However, using baby wipes, talcum powders, dishwashing or laundry detergents, and shampoo for upholstered chairs are beneficial. Fabric furniture is more prone to spillage and accumulation of dirt than simple ones. Therefore, maintaining the proper care and regular cleaning is necessary to increase their longevity.

You can remove the dust daily by vacuuming and duster. You can also use slipcovers to protect their surface from unnecessary damage.

People place different types of furniture in their dining room; some of them are upholstered with other fabrics.

You can also place them around the dining tables to enjoy your meal with family and friends. The accidental spills of water, juices, and oily foods make them dirty and greasy.

Cleaning codes for dining room chairs

It is necessary to mop them regularly to maintain their original appearance and shine. The dirty chairs with stains on them give a very awkward touch to your whole furniture.

S It means you can only use dry solvents for them. Don’t use water-based products; it will damage their upholstery.

W It means you can use water-based products, water, and other detergents for washing purposes. You can also use the steam cleaning technique for them.

SW indicated that you should use both water-based and dry products for rinsing purposes, either a dry or a steam cleaning.

You have to consider these codes primarily before applying any detergent on their surface. I have added 16 methods for fabric chairs that are easy to use, and some of them are home-based.

Use hot water and a soapy mixture

You can use this method for rinsing upholstered furniture and remove the stains from them. Take water in a bowl and slightly warm them in an oven.

Now, add a soapy mixture in the warm water; you can also add liquid hand wash in them.

First of all, remove the dust and dirt by using a soft microfiber cloth. Then, apply the mixture on a small patch to check that it is safe for fabric or not.

After this, mist the whole surface by spraying them with water. Then apply the warm water and soapy mixture to the surface for about 5 to 10 minutes.

It is also beneficial to remove the oily and greasy stains from the surface. After 4 to 10 minutes, remove the mixture with a clean cloth. Next, take another material and dip it in water and rinse the fabric with this damp cloth.

Allow them to dry by taking your furniture outside and turning on the fan. You can apply this mixture again if needed.

Steam cleaning is better for fabric chairs

It is the best and reliable method for washing upholstered furniture. Take out the bucket of the steam machine and fill it with warm water and liquid detergent.

Now put this bucket back to their position after filling it. You can also use dishwashing detergents and liquid soaps for them.

Spray the surface with water to damp them and then turn on your machine. It is beneficial to use a scrub brush and microfiber cloth for moping.

Apply its scrub brush at one corner and then moves forward. In this way, wash every corner and freshen them.

Now let them dry for about 30 to 40 minutes. You can also use the hairdryer for quick drying and soaking of water from them.

The use of steamer is safe, and it also takes less effort for rubbing. In addition, it can remove the stains of water and urine spills.

Vacuum Cleaning

Vacuum cleaning is the method, and it is reliable for the fabric that is not safe with water and liquid detergents.

This method only removes the dust, dirt particles, and hair of pets from the furniture. For moping purposes, it will be better to use a soft-bristled brush to remove the dust.

Attach the bristled brush in front of the nozzle; you can also use a roller brush. Next, put the switch of vacuum in a socket and turn it ON.

Hold the brush side on the surface to remove the dirt and pet hair from them. I recommend using a soft-bristled brush because it is safe for scrubbing.

Now, detach the bristled brush and apply the nozzle sides to every corner. The narrow end will remove the dust from every corner. You should ensure that you don’t use more air pressure; otherwise, it will leave the marks there.

Use White vinegar

White vinegar is slightly acidic, and it is safe for upholstered furniture. It will not cause fading and discoloration of the fabric. . You can use it to remove water, urine, coffee, blood, and tea stains.

Add 3 cups of water with 1 cup of white vinegar to make a dilute solution. Pour this homemade solution into the spray bottle.

Now spray the small patch with this mixture to check its effect; if it does not show any discoloration, pour the whole chair with white vinegar.

You mustn’t scrub the surface too hard; it will cause fading of color.

Rinse the solution with a damp towel and leave it for drying purposes for about 20 to 30 minutes.

Use of Baking soda

You can use baking soda for deodorizing the upholstered chairs. The odors come in them due to body oils, sweating, bacteria, and moisture.

Spread the baking soda on the whole surface and spread them by using a brush. After 10 to 15 minutes, remove the baking soda by towel and vacuum cleaner.

After this:

  • Remove the stains by using a mixture of white vinegar and mild soap.
  • Wipe off this mixture after 4 to 5 minutes with a damp towel.
  • Turn on the fan and leave it for soaking of water.

Dry cleaning the fabric chairs

You can use this method for fabrics not suitable for washing with water and water-based liquid detergents.

For delicate fabric, detach the upholstery from chairs and pre-spotting them by using a chemical solvent and removing the dust with the help of a vacuum cleaner.

Now put the upholstery in a bucket and add non-water-based in them and turn it ON. The machine will remove the solvent from perforated buckets.

Spin the cloth and remove the excessive solvent by warm air. Finally, attach the upholstery again and secure it with pins and a stapler.

Use of alcohol for cleaning

The spirit or isopropyl alcohol is the best rinsing solution for fiber. You can use them because it dries quickly and will not produce water stains after drying.

Take 2 to 3 cups of rubbing alcohol and mix them with 3 to 4 cups of water. Pour this homogenous mixture into a spray bottle.

Before applying this solution to the surface, first of all, wipe off the dust by using a dry paper towel, then spray the entire surface with an alcohol mixture and leave it for 2 to 3 minutes.

After this, rub the surface by using a damp sponge to eradicate stains. It is beneficial to remove stains of fruit juices and accidental spills of wine.

Dishwashing detergent

Take 4 to 5 tablespoons of shampoo in a bowl and mix them with 1 to 2 bowls of water to make a liquid mixture.

You can also change this quantity according to the length of your chair. Then, apply this mixture and leave it for 4 to 5 minutes.

Now take a cotton towel to scrub the surface gently, and wipe off the shampoo using a damp towel. It is always better to use a steam cleaner for better results.

Place the fabric chairs under ceiling fans for bloating of water. Don’t use a blow dryer for drying because its heat can damage their upholstery.

Take glycerin and slightly heat them in an oven, and mix it with water. Now apply this solution to the upholstery of furniture and leave it for 1 to 2 hours.

It will loosen the spot, now take a cloth, rub the surface, and wipe them off with a damp paper towel.

Sprinkle the powder on the whole surface and wait for 5 to 10 minutes. The powder will suck all the liquid and grease from the upholstery.

Now take a paper towel and rub the surface with them. After this, wipe out the excessive powder by using wipes.

If the stains remain there, then apply some detergent with the mixture of water. The wipe-off them with a damp towel and let them dry for 5 to 6 hours.

Use Salt and water

It is a cost-effective and home-based method to remove the liquid stains and spots from upholstered chairs.

Sprinkle the salt on its surface and leave it for 2 to 3 hours to absorb the liquid and loosen the spots.

It is specifically helpful in removing the spots of tea, coffee, oil, and grease. Now take slightly warm water and dab the surface with the paper towel after dipping it in warm water.

Apply this procedure 3 to 4 times until all the stains wash out from the fabric.

Laundry detergents

These detergents are used for washing cloth so you can use them for rinsing fabric chairs. You can’t use this detergent for all types of stuff.

Read the codes on the upholstered furniture and then apply the detergents to them.

Apply it on the surface using a sponge and move it circularly on the entire cloth.

Now take a paper towel, dip it in water and rinse the surface with them. Allow it to stand under the ceiling fan overnight for soaking of water.

Mix Baking soda, lemon juice, and hydrogen peroxide
